We first came across Hector, who to our shame we didn’t previously know of, grammar, when we reviewed a CD of his for Folk London – favourably, obviously! – and we booked him on the strength of that.
We rarely seem to get Scottish singers venturing to the depths of South London, with the honourable exception of Alasdair Roberts, so we are particularly delighted that Hector is visiting the Goose near enough to Burns Night for us to have an excuse to have a Scottish/Burns theme, especially as he is acknowledged as being one of the finest interpreters of the songs of Burns.
As well as Burns, Hector will be singing a mixture of traditional and contemporary songs.
Here are a couple of clips of Hector (yes we know they are not both Scottish songs!!)
Hector will be joined tonight by brilliant Scottish fiddler Carol Anderson , who delighted a room-full of happy people at our October Club Night, with her fine interpretations of Scottish fiddle tunes (and singing!) We don’t normally have headliners return so quickly, if ever, so this is a rare treat for the Goose!
Here’s a clip of Carol:
As it’s a Scottish theme tonight, it would be great if floorsingers could sing Scottish or Scotland-related songs – but not compulsory, of course!
