Rachel Taylor-Beales

Blimey, I used to have a coat like that (this is not Nygel speaking, btw) 🙂

We’d had Rachel Taylor-Beales on our shortlist for a while, and finally got to book her in 2016 to support John Kirkpatrick at The Ivy House!

She has a new album of contemporary folk songs, Stone’s Throw, Lament Of The Selkie. The album  is inspired by the Selkie (seal-people) legends of the Orkney Isles, and has been featured on Folk Radio UK as their album of the month.

“Embracing and elusive, hypnotic and folk-symphonic with exquisite vocals, haunting musicianship and captivating story-lyrics” – Stewart Henderson Poet, songwriter and BBC Radio 4 broadcaster

“Outstanding” – Adam Walton BBC Radio Wales

“Excellent and Original” – Folking.com

“It’s a stunningly ambitious, superbly crafted and intoxicating affair that deserves to cast its siren spell on all who hear it” – Mike Davies, FATEA
