Stuart Forester is a singer/songwriter/guitarist and mountain dulcimer player from Cumbria, who is firmly based in the folk storytelling tradition.
His songs recount tales of gypsy funerals, fox hunting, North Sea trawler fishing, dustmen and skinheads, 16th century prostitutes, fairground workers, emigration, piracy on the Irish Sea and the odd protest rant for good measure.
Stuart was born in Cumbria and from six months old raised in mobile homes and tents in Canada and Alaska during the Forester family’s three year great adventure.
Stuart has previously toured with bands throughout the UK, Europe and the USA which inspired these tales of hope, death, the city and the sea. His debut album “Pennies for Gold” features eight original songs and and reworkings of two folk classics, Glenlogie and Swarthfell Rocks. His second album will be available in late 2012.
Stuart is a regular at Wizz Jones‘ famous Sitting Room sessions in South West London, and also (we’re delighted to say) a frequent visitor to our Goose Singarounds!
He also played a stunning set with Carol Anderson on fiddle at our club night in September 2013, only slightly marred by our banner falling down behind them in the middle (shame somebody was filming them that night!) and we are sure that he will be back as a Goose headliner in the not too distant future!
