Tandem

16 June 2012

TandemTandem appeared for the first time at the Goose at our evening for up-and-coming artists who we wanted to give a gig to but couldn’t fit in anywhere else!

This duo was apparently born out of a bizarre series of coincidences – though we don’t know what they are!

We are not sure what the present line-up is, or whether Tandem is/are currently two or three (they seem to be two – but a different two!), but the info below was current at the time they actually came to the Goose in 2012 …..

Charlie Pell has studied with Pete Cooper and Catriona McDonald at Newcastle University. He has also studied composition with Domenic Murcott at Trinity College of Music. Charlie also takes a leading role in his family’s world-famous mechanical organ building business.

Dave Malkin studies guitar with Graham Devine and composition with Paul Newland at Trinity College of Music. He also plays with Oxford-based Henry Webster, of The Will Pound Collective, and All-Ireland-winning flautist and bodhránist Kieran Leonard, of the The Knockmore Céilí Band.

‘Tandem are following hot on Lau’s heels down the contemporary and experimental folk trail, with a mesmerising mix of instrumentals and songs and an incredibly mature sound – check them out!’ – Katriona Gilmore and Jamie Roberts
