Long Lankin

Oct 2013

Long LankinLong Lankin are Marion Gray, Amy Jane Hardy and Tanya Jackson.

We first met Tanya when she came to our very first Goose gig ever, with way back in 2008, as half  of The Woodlarks, who supported Dave Swarbrick.

We invited Long Lankin to the Goose to support Ewan McLennan at The Ivy House on our second night at the then newly re-opened community owned pub.

They are  multi-instrumentalists whose inventive interpretations resonate strongly with traditionalists and contemporary musicians alike.

Taking much-loved material from England, Scotland, America and Scandinavia, their  arrangements add a touch of modern storytelling to a song, heightening the drama and emotion within the music, while allowing each story to tell itself.

Based in London, the group have a diverse wealth of combined musical experience that includes punk-folk band Neck, bluegrass rockers Hayseed Dixie, classical fusion singers Mediaeval Baebes, the London Bulgarian Choir, and Folkworks.

These varied influences give the group their individual sound, as does their united enthusiasm for a good tune and an interesting tale!

“Enchanting arrangement and performance” – Katharine Blake, Mediaeval Baebes

“Crystal-clear vocals and subtle instrumentation” – The Goose Is Out! (Oh look! That’s us! 🙂 )

“Hey, those harmonies are SMOKIN’!”- Eli Irvine, audience member at The Joiner’s Arms, Camberwell
